There are many needs experienced after a nation is invaded and fighting a war for its survival. Responding to one of those needs, Tyrone is donating nearly two dozen decommissioned ballistic vests to Ukraine to help in its fight for survival.
The Town of Tyrone was recently contacted by a small local ministry with humanitarian ties to organizations in Ukraine about the possibility of donating decommissioned/surplus ballistic vests, said Mayor Eric Dial.
“The Town of Tyrone has been exceedingly blessed and we are so fortunate to be able to extend a hand of compassion to those in need with this donation,” Dial said.
Dial said the town was able to donate 22 ballistic vests to be shipped to Ukraine to assist the citizens affected by the current conflict.
Commenting on the donation, Police Chief Randy Mundy said, “We at the Tyrone Police Department are grateful for the opportunity to provide assistance to the people of Ukraine. We pray for their safety and an end to this conflict.”
