North Fayette Elementary’s 5th grade girls are growing stronger every day. The Pearls of Excellence mentoring program cultivates confidence with support and love for the young Dolphins.
Through the Pearls of Excellence, the Phi Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. partners with North Fayette 5th graders once a month via Zoom. During their sessions, students engage in discussions and activities to promote healthy nutrition, body positivity, team building, self-esteem, character development, school leadership skills, and high academic success.
“The biggest takeaway for the girls is to set, strive for, and achieve worthy goals for themselves,” said North Fayette teacher Kimberly Simpson. “The girls gain the ability to analyze their own strengths and weaknesses, set personal and vocational goals, and have the self-assurance and self-esteem to pursue and achieve their dreams.”
