A class of Rockets literally used their heads to learn multiplication. Courtney McBurnett’s 3rd grade class at Peeples Elementary practiced multiplication fact families using UNO cards in a game to sharpen their skills.

Students were sorted into groups of three, and two of them placed an UNO card on their forehead without looking at it. The student without the cards multiplied the two factors and gave group members the product. The students with the cards knew the factor the other person was holding and the product, giving them enough information to guess what number they were holding.

“The students really enjoyed this activity,” said McBurnett. “It was a fun, hands-on way to practice multiplication facts without having to complete worksheets!”
