Students place at Georgia Student Technology Competition

The bright minds of Fayette County shined at the 2021 Georgia Student Technology Competition (GaSTC). A total of nine students split among five schools across three levels placed at the prestigious competition.

At the high school level, McIntosh’s Jiaming Zhang won 1st place in Digital Game Design for grades 11-12, McIntosh’s Marc van Zyl and Om Malavde finished 2nd in Programming Challenge for grades 9-10, and Starr’s Mill’s Luke Walters finished 2nd in Digital Photo Production for grades 9-10.

At the middle school level, Rising Starr’s Alexa Walters and Abby Morris finished 2nd in Multimedia Applications for grades 7-8.

At the elementary school level, Oak Grove’s Anay Chauhan finished 2nd in Mobile Apps for grades 3-4, Oak Grove’s Siddhant Nahar finished 2nd in Multimedia Applications for grades 3-4, and Oak Grove’s Saket Sonone placed 3rd for Internet Application for grades 5-6.

GaSTC is a statewide technology competition where students in grades 3-12 compete in a variety of technology categories with a goal to challenge students to become leaders in a digital age.
