One-third of Fayette folks are fully vaccinated; 2-week new case rate at 7-month low —
More than 4 out of every 10 Fayette residents have received at least one Covid-19 vaccination injection, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health.
Of that number, 33% — or 36,763 Fayette residents — have been fully vaccinated, DPH reported. That’s 82,680 Covid shots administered to Fayette residents, DPH said.
Meanwhile, the Fayette 2-week rate of newly reported cases has fallen to 2.5%, the lowest that marker has been since mid-October, 2020.
Since Tuesday, April 27, Fayette has reported 70 new Covid cases among Fayette residents. In addition one county resident has died. On April 30, DPH reported the newest Covid victim was a white female, age 45, with underlying medical conditions. That brings the county pandemic death toll to 153.
Statewide, the 2-week case rate is at 5% with a total of 882,074 since the beginning of the pandemic. The state death toll is 17,593, or just under 2% of the confirmed case total.
