After several days of improving 2-week positive test rates, Fayette slid back above the 10% 2-week rate, according to the Georgia Department of Health. That translates into 1 person out of every 10 tested turns out to have a confirmed case of Covid.

Statewide, 3,816 new cases brought the total to 763,077. The state reported 141 new fatalities to bring that total to 13,048.
Fayette has 106 Covid-related fatalities. The most recent — reported Feb. 3 — were as follows: two white women, ages 73 and 74, as well as a white male, age 88. None had any underlying medical conditions, DPH said.
