Fayette Senior Services, Inc., (FSS) a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization announces the launch of their profile on the newest app Purposity.
Purposity is a simple way to do good in your community, connecting app users to people with needs through the participating organization. This app aims to fulfill the essential needs of Fayette Senior Services clients through their partnership. This free app allows FSS and the user to collaborate together for the good of seniors in Fayette County.
In order to activate the account and start posting individual needs, FSS will require a minimum of 250 followers. To join in this new innovative way to make a difference and support seniors in Fayette County, download the Purposity app from the App Store (iPhones) or Google Play Store (Androids). Search Purposity on the store, and select it to download.
Once downloaded, open the app and create an account. Once logged in, the app will prompt you to choose your community. Select Fayette County under Georgia. The app will take you to the home screen and on the bottom, you’ll see a list of items to select from. Choose Orgs and search for Fayette Senior Services. Select their profile and click on the blue ‘Follow’ button to follow their organization. Once 250 followers are met, needs to be chosen from will be posted on a regular basis.
This app allows FSS to identify needs of seniors and upload them to the app where followers can view them and choose where they’d like to make a difference by selecting a need to support. When a need arises, FSS will submit it to their profile on the app, a notification will be sent out to their followers on the app, and users can choose how they’d like to support the need with one simple click.
The app will show FSS client’s wish list. With just a few clicks on the app, people can satisfy needs ranging from a blanket or some slippers to keep warm to providing materials for rebuilding steps leading into their home for safety reasons. The app allows users to track their donation, showing them where it was used and the direct impact they’ve made for someone.
Purposity is a word created by the developer by combining the words “purpose” and “generosity” to mean finding purpose through being generous and was created with this principle in mind. “The vision for Purposity is to inspire us to live generously by connecting people to doing good in the same way Facebook connects us to friends and Google connects us to information. We live in an age when we can make a doctor’s appointment right from our phones,” said founder Blake Canterbury, “but we have no way of knowing if the family down the street has food on its table or if their children have shoes on their feet. Purposity looks to bridge that gap locally. The app aims to connect people in need with those that can help and work to accomplish listed needs, making it easy for neighbors to help neighbors.”
Users of Purposity experience transparency and a one-on-one relationship with philanthropy, based on knowing the story of the exact need their donation is meeting. Purposity is a nonprofit organization so all items purchased throughout the app are tax deductible.
“We’ve been so fortunate to have such a supportive community in Fayette County,” says Morgan Lanier, FSS Program Development Coordinator. “We feel confident this platform will allow us to make listing the needs of seniors we serve easier for others to reach out and lend a helping hand. Purposity puts into perspective the difference donors are making by showing them the reason for a need and how their donation will be used to meet that need. The donor can see exactly what their generosity is doing for others and the impact they are having on someone’s life.”
