A Peachtree City man is in the Fayette County Jail on numerous charges spanning a two-day period and involving the theft of a vehicle and a bicycle.

Laderrick J. Barden, 20, was charged with fleeing and eluding, DUI drugs, entering auto, felony theft by taking-vehicle, theft by taking-bicycle and a headlight violation, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Chris Hyatt said officers in the late hours of April 22 observed Barden driving on Ga. Highway 74 near Rockaway Road without headlights. Opting not to pursue, they saw that Barden continued southbound and turned north onto Ga. Highway 85.

Fayette County deputies on Hwy. 85 identified the vehicle and stopped it, Hyatt said.

Meantime, Peachtree City officers received a report of a vehicle stolen from a business on Hwy. 74 South.

Barden was heavily under the influence and taken to Fayette County Jail, where he was subsequently processed and released on bond, and returned to his mother’s home in Peachtree City, said Hyatt.

Barden the following day engaged in other activities that landed him in a jail cell.

Hyatt said officers received a call that a vehicle at the Peachtree City Post Office on Hwy. 74 had been entered and ransacked. Barden was located and apprehended after stealing a bicycle from a business on Clover Reach.

Barden was taken to the Fayette County Jail where he was housed, said Hyatt.
