Patricia “Pat” Chitwood of Fayetteville, Georgia passed away January 11, 2020.
She was born on October 17, 1944, to Ross and Vernon Hull in Atlanta, Georgia.
Pat was a graduate of Hoke Smith High School in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was a cheerleader and played basketball. After graduation she married her high school sweetheart, and in true fashion, didn’t tell her mom because Pat knew she couldn’t afford it.
Pat spent the next 30 years in public service as a Clayton County bus driver and eventually became a supervisor for MARTA.
She will always be remembered for her elaborate Christmas trees, her refusal to use the word “can’t,” and her robust love for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Chitwood, Sr.; children, Thomas Chitwood, Jr., and his wife Rhonda, of Brooks; Todd Chitwood and his wife, Sabrina, of Woolsey; and Chris Chitwood and his wife, Bridgette, of Fayetteville; grandchildren, TJ Chitwood, Tyler Chitwood, Logan Chitwood, Kaylee Chitwood and Caleb Chitwood. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Caroline Chitwood, Abigail Chitwood, and Emersyn Chitwood. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kelsea Chitwood.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home in Fayetteville with Reverend Ken Magness, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Monday, January 13, 2020, at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
