North Fayette Elementary is one of five schools in the state selected to participate in the 2019-2021 Georgia Family-Friendly Partnership School (FFPS) Initiative sponsored by the Georgia Department of Education. FFPS is a two-year professional development opportunity for schools to improve their welcoming environments.
North Fayette was chosen after a panel review of its application in which the school had to identify at least two S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely) goals for its welcoming environment improvement efforts.
During the two-year initiative, North Fayette will receive personalized feedback from a panel of site visitors to improve its efforts in creating a welcoming environment based on the S.M.A.R.T. goals outlined in its application. Site visits will be unannounced; the first one will be conducted in January. During the site visit, a group of visitors will conduct a walk-through and interview school staff and visitors to assess the school’s welcoming environment.
The FFPS Initiative is open to all Title I schoolwide schools in Georgia. The initiative was created to assist Title I schools, families and communities in working together to create welcoming environments that lead to increased student achievement. — This article provided by the Fayette County School System.
