A Tyrone man was arrested at his home on Nov. 23 after officers viewed a video of him choking his wife.
Melvin Stargell, 47, was charged with aggravated assault and three counts of cruelty to children, according to Tyrone Police Department spokesperson Andrea Johnson-McCoy.
Johnson-McCoy said officers earlier in the day had been called to the residence by a family member relating to a domestic issue. The officer at the scene could find no proof of physical violence, with the couple at the time agreeing to separate.
Officers received a second call later in the day, again by a family member at the residence. Upon arriving, officers were shown a video taken by a family member showing a verbal altercation, and Stargell choking the victim and shoving her head against a wall, Johnson-McCoy said.
Stargell was arrested at the scene.
