Steadfast of Peachtree City and property owner John Barrow on Sept. 9 received a recommendation to have 13.8 acres along Dividend Drive rezoned from General Industrial (GI) to Limited Use Industrial (LUI).

The Peachtree City Planning Commission on a 3-0 vote agreed to recommend the rezoning request. Chairman Frank Destadio and Commissioner Michael Link were absent.

Barrow said he is not proposing to make any changes to the existing 99,000 sq. ft. building, which houses A Better Way Ministries, and does not have immediate plans to develop the parcel situated to the rear of the existing building.

The proposal included allowing all uses permitted in the General Industrial and Light Industrial along with a 4,000 sq. ft. restaurant.  Though closed now, a restaurant had opened in the existing building in 2010 and was approved as an accessory use. The restaurant subsequently closed, with Barrow now wanting to re-open it.

Pertaining to a potential future use of the acreage to the rear of the existing building, Barrow said he was considering having a trade school occupy the space.

The vote to recommend the rezoning included a 75-foot buffer to the rear of the undeveloped parcel.
