Special outreach program in Peachtree City created to address parent concerns —
The Fayette County Republican Party has created a special question and answer session for taxpayers and parents of students on all matters related to the Board of Education on September 10 at 6:30 pm.
BOE Chairman Scott Hollowell and Board Member Barry Marchman will be on hand to answer all questions.
Since public comment time is limited at Board of Education meetings and the Board Members do not respond to public comment to preserve time for the meeting agenda, the Republican Party created this program to allow for a more relaxed environment for a genuine dialog without the time constraints.
Many parents have already submitted questions through Facebook and those will be introduced on stage by former Peachtree City Mayor and former County Board of Commissioners Chairman Steve Brown. There will also be questions and comments from the parents in the audience.
This is an open-floor program on a wide range of topics including school policy, school discipline, testing, curriculum, school calendar, special education, school technology, communication, extra-curricular activities, mental health, and budget issues, just to name a few.
The program will be held at The Bridge Community Center, 225 Willowbend Road, in Peachtree City. There is no charge for this program. Snacks and beverages will be provided.
Childcare is available, but you must email stevebrownptc@outlook.com at least two days prior to the event to reserve a spot for your child.
The program will be broadcast LIVE on The Citizen’s Facebook page.
