Folia Crossroads development disappears; developer asked Fayetteville to revert zoning to what it was before project announced; Fayetteville unanimously down-zones over owner’s objection —
It took months last year to get the large Folia Crossroads mixed-use development on Ga. Highway 54 West in Fayetteville approved. The project reverted to its former residential zoning on Aug. 5 by unanimous vote of the City Council at the request of the former project manager.
BCM Construction Group, LLC, the former project manager of the large mixed-use Folia Crossroads development asked that the council return the zoning to residential from the current Planned Community Development zoning.
BCM Construction Group representative Rob Beecham requested the zoning change given that the property owner refused to extend the contract after the Folia rezoning was accomplished.
Beecham said the company has spent $150,000 and hundreds of hours to get the Folia project approved and is currently in litigation with the owner, adding that BCM is concerned that the owner is pursuing another developer.
The council agreed, voting unanimously to revert the property back to residential zoning, even though the owner’s representative asked that it not be done.
