The kitchen in the Thomas F. Chapman Family Cancer Wellness Center at Piedmont Fayette Hospital will stay busy this summer with four exciting free cooking demonstrations.
My Chef Nancy will prove that carbohydrates is not a dirty word when she leads “Don’t Give Up Pasta” at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 11. She will also provide some healthy recipes to start your day off right with “New Ideas for Traditional Breakfast” at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 26.
Healthy Chef Partyologist Nancy Waldeck will put all of the great summer produce to use with “Summer Salads and Veggies” at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. To celebrate National Peach Day, she will showcase some fantastic recipes using peaches during “Peachy Keen” at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22.
“The cooking demonstrations offered at Piedmont Fayette are so important for patients going through, or recovering from, cancer treatment,” said Cancer Wellness Program Coordinator Kirsten Soriano. “In addition to learning how to prepare these dishes, we always have a dietitian present to discuss how vital nutrition is to healing and just feeling better in general.”
The cooking demonstrations are free, but registration is required and space is limited. Call 770.719.5860 to register. For more information, visit piedmont.org/cancer.
