The construction of the COSTCO warehouse club store at Fischer Crossings is underway. A public hearing at the June 18 meeting of the Coweta County Commission will include a proposal to establish a residential retirement community immediately north of and adjacent to the COSTCO site.

Commissioners will hear a proposal by Fortress Ventures to establish the retirement community on 13.3 acres to the north of COSTCO.

The request to rezone the property to RRCC (residential retirement and community care district) includes 162 units, with 90 independent units, 40 assisted living units and 32 memory care units. Building elevations show heights from one to four floors.

The property is situated on the northeast corner of the Fischer Crossings commercial development, with COSTCO to the south and single-family homes to the north on Fischer Road.

Fortress Ventures is represented by Atlanta attorney Doug Dillard, who in a May 20 letter raised a constitutional objection to any move by commissioners to deny the request.
