1,684 seniors from 5 Fayette schools graduate Friday

The Fayette County School System’s graduating class of 2019 will be front and center for graduation ceremonies at the county’s five high schools on May 24, where 1,684 seniors are expected to receive their diplomas.

Listed below by school is information on the number of graduates and the total scholarship awards.

All graduations ceremonies are scheduled at the respective schools on May 24 at 7 p.m.

The Fayette County High School graduation ceremony will be held at the stadium in Fayetteville. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside if needed.

The FCHS graduating class is expected to include 324 seniors, with 250 planning to enroll in post-secondary education. FCHS students received nearly $2.3 million in scholarships, excluding HOPE.

The Sandy Creek High School graduation ceremony will be held at the stadium The ceremony will be held in the gym in the event of inclement weather.

The SCHS graduating class is expected to include 276 seniors, with the number planning to enroll in post-secondary education unknown at press time. Also unknown at press time was the amount received in scholarships.

The Whitewater High School graduation ceremony will be held in the stadium, with inclement weather plans calling for a Saturday, May 25 graduation in the stadium.

The WHS graduating class is expected to include 341 seniors, with 300 planning to enroll in post-secondary education. WHS students received $5.2 million in scholarships, excluding HOPE.

The Starr’s Mill High School graduation ceremony will be held in the stadium. Pertaining to inclement weather, heavy rain and thunder or lightning will have the ceremony postponed until Saturday at 10 a.m. in the stadium and in the gym on Saturday if inclement weather persists. If held in the gym, guests will be limited to four tickets per graduate.

The SMHS graduating class is expected to include 341 seniors. The number of students planning to enroll in post-secondary education and the amount of scholarships funded received was not known at press time.

The McIntosh High School graduation ceremony will be held in the stadium. Inclement weather will have the ceremony moved in the gym or postponed until Saturday at 10 a.m.

The MHS graduation ceremony is expected to include 403 seniors, with the number expected to enroll in post-secondary education unknown at press time. MHS students received nearly $2.8 million in scholarships, excluding HOPE.
