State Representative Josh Bonner (R-Fayetteville) recently co-sponsored House Bill 481, or the Living Infants Fairness and Equality (LIFE) Act. This legislation seeks to change current abortion laws in Georgia.

“House Bill 481 provides protection for the most vulnerable population in our state, the unborn,” said Rep. Bonner. “I pray my colleagues on both sides of the chamber join me in supporting this crucial legislation.”

HB 481 would prohibit an abortion operation once a fetal heartbeat has been determined by a doctor, which is typically decided at 6 weeks of gestational age. Current law allows abortions up to 20 weeks. Additionally, this legislation would recognize that the full value of life begins at conception.

He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2016, and currently serves as vice chair of the Defense & Veterans Affairs Committee and vice chair of the Working Group on Creative Arts & Entertainment. He also serves on the Economic Development & Tourism, Human Relations & Aging, Interstate Cooperation and Industry and Labor committees.
