Ruth Irene Price Buswell, 93, died November 15, 2018 at Ashley Glen Senior Living Center.
Mrs. Buswell was born on November 2, 1925 in St. Petersburg, Fla. to Irene and Charles Price. She was the oldest of 4 children. Ruth came to live with her youngest son, Daniel Buswell, after her husband of 73 years, Mack Buswell passed away. Ruth spent two happy years in Peachtree City with her son’s family.
Ruth raised six children on a farm in Oklahoma and then in Miami, Fla. Ruth’s three loves in her life were her children, grandchildren, and friends. While raising her children, Ruth worked the farm and would tell wonderful stories of her adventures on the farm. Ruth later went to work in the cafeteria of the local elementary school in Miami, Fla.
Ruth was well known for her banana pudding, squash casserole, and other delectable dishes. Her gifts to this world were many. She was a story teller and would fascinate anyone with her tales of life. Ruth was a woman of many talents, from helping a calf being born, to riding a tractor, to canning produce. Ruth was a vibrant member in all of her communities. She played on the ladies softball team in the Catholic Church. She participated in the Catholic Youth Organization. She was an esteemed member of the Red Hat ladies group at Little River. Ruth loved to laugh, play board games with the kids, cook for the family, spend time with her true friends, and did not put up with any nonsense.
While still living and working in Miami, Ruth and her husband purchased farm property in1968 in Brooksville, to raise livestock and fresh vegetables. They would commute to Miami from Brooksville in their first plane, a C-150. They retired to the Brooksville farm in 1982, but didn’t stay long. They moved to Little River Flying Estates in 1984, and traded their plane for a C-120. In 2007, they sold their planes and focused on farming again. Most days, you would find Ruth out in the garden or kitchen. She was a lovely woman who lived life honestly, with integrity, and full of hard work. Ruth could teach the young people of this country a few lessons.
Ruth is survived by her five children, Daniel Buswell, Teresa Migneco, Robert Buswell, Gerald Buswell, and Nancy Conklin; sister, Mary Bennion; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Buswell; son, Richard Buswell; and brothers, Chuck Price and George Price.
A memorial service will be held December 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Ashley Glen. An interment service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Scottsmoor, Fla. at a date and time to be determined by the Veterans Administration.
