John Wesley Jones, Jr, of Fayetteville, Ga. entered into the eternal embrace of our Heavenly Father on December 6, 2018. He was born to John Wesley Jones, Sr. and Wilma Dorothea Wilson (Jones) on January 23, 1938, in Harrisburg, Pa. and raised in Steelton, Pa.
A graduate of Steelton High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. After receiving an honorable discharge from the military, John began working for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Labor and Industry, where he met and married his wife, Beth. John later accepted a position in the Color Division of RCA and moved his family to Lancaster, Pa. Following his tenure at RCA, John and his family returned to Harrisburg, Pa., where he worked and retired after 26 years of service from the Engineering Dept of AMP, Inc. John and Beth retired to Fayetteville, Ga. in 1999, where they have enjoyed leading active lives working and volunteering at the Fayette Senior Services Center, gardening and landscaping at their home, traveling, and spending quality time with their many friends and family.
John had a tremendous love of music and, for many years, his golden tenor voice has brought joy to many at weddings, funerals and other social events. He served the Lord in song, performing solos in many churches and Christian conferences around the country and, most recently, as a member of the McDonough Road Baptist church choir.
Cherished memories live on in the hearts of his wife, Beth; and daughter, Lisa; his brother, William; sisters, Barbara and Jacqueline; sister-in-law, Mary Louse; brothers-in-law, Donald, Robert, Jimm and Howard; much-loved nieces, nephews and cousins; and a whole host of friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at McDonough Road Baptist Church, Fayetteville with Dr. David Chancey and Dr. David Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
