Re-timing traffic signals ‘30% done’ —

The paving on Ga. Highway 54 through Fayette County is complete, but when will the signal timing at intersections get back to normal?

The answer is that reconfiguring the signal timing “loops” is underway, with approximately 30 percent of the work complete, according to the Ga. Department of Transportation (DOT).

DOT said a completion date to re-establish the signal timing throughout all Fayette County’s intersections with Hwy. 54 has not been set.

That said, crews are currently working on the signal timing, with Fayette County Public Works Director Phil Mallon noting that the work is being done by a DOT subcontractor.

As for the complete painting of left turn arrows rather than showing an outline of an arrow, Mallon said the painting project must wait for 30 days for the asphalt to “cure.”
