Mary Dolores “Dolly” Morgan, 102, of Peachtree City passed away September 19, 2018.
Dolly was born on May 1, 1916, in Ironton, Ohio, to the late Oscar and Alwina Henninger. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and began her career, teaching physical education in the Ohio school system. She subsequently was a mother and homemaker, and later worked as a Welcome Wagon hostess. She also sold real estate and worked as a library assistant in Peachtree City.
Dolly was preceded in death by her husband, Howard A. Morgan, who in the 1970s served as a Mayor of Peachtree City, and who subsequently served in other city positions. She is survived by sons, Gregory (Nancy) Morgan of Ventura, Calif. and David (Nancy) Morgan of Fresno, Calif., and by grandson, Matthew Reed of Pleasant Hill, Calif.
She was an inspiration to her family and friends, remaining active and vital well into her senior years. She was an avid bridge player, talented pianist, and enjoyed tennis, golf and swimming. In her post-retirement years, she traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad.
Mrs. Morgan insisted that she did not want a funeral, so friends and family will gather at the First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City, at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018, to express their sympathy and to celebrate her remarkable life.
