An annexation request totaling 105 acres of existing commercial properties and space for 93 homes on 50 of those acres was approved for recommendation Aug. 27 by members of the Peachtree City Planning Commission. The request will move forward to the City Council.

The vote by planning commissioners was unanimous.

Considered in total and if successfully annexed, the commercial portions of the annexation request include Peachtree East Shopping Center businesses such as Publix, Steinmart, Kaufman Tire and those in Governor’s Square and Governor’s Corner.

A portion of the annexation request, and situated in the rear of the property, is a 49.542-acre tract planned for 93 single-family lots. The residential component includes 24.2 acres of open space with an average of 1.9 lots per acre.

Developer Brent Holdings LLC and Ravin Homes requested Step 2 annexation approval. The city has a 2-step annexation process, the first of which was previously approved by the City Council.

The Fayette County Commission on Aug. 23 objected to the annexation of 105 acres of commercial and residential property, which includes the Brent Holdings request. The matter could result in arbitration between the city and county.
