Lorraine McComas Petrie, 92, passed away on June 11, 2018 in Fayetteville, Ga. She was born on August 27, 1925 in Hamlin, West Va. She was head majorette at Hamlin High School.
Mrs. Petrie was a resident of St. Albans for 50 years before moving to Georgia in 1992. She was a life-long Methodist and a life-long Democrat, working as ballot commissioner for many years. She was an avid reader, seamstress, gardener and worked as a seasonal tax preparer.
Mrs. Petrie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bill Petrie. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Petrie; her son, Dr. David Petrie and daughter-in-law, Jane; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and three siblings.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on June 13, 2018 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Ga. Her service and burial was at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the Lower Mausoleum Chapel of Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, W.Va. The family received friends from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on June 16, 2018 at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home in St. Albans, W.Va.
