A Peachtree City couple has been charged with sexual battery and drug possession after an investigation into allegations by a woman at their home who said she had been raped.

Estela J. Gonzalez, 30, and Efrain Gonzalez-Salgado, 36, both of Valley View in Peachtree City, (photos above) were charged with sexual battery, drug possession and misdemeanor marijuana, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesperson Odilia Bergh said officers went to the couple’s residence at the request of the Fayetteville Police Department to check on a 26-year-old female.

Officers at the scene spoke with the woman who seemed impaired and alleged that she had been raped, Bergh said.

A search warrant was executed, and suspected cocaine and a small amount of marijuana were found in the home, Bergh said.

Bergh said the man and woman were interviewed at the police station and subsequently arrested.

Bergh said the victim is a workplace acquaintance of the couple.
