McIntosh and Starr’s Mill prevailed in the first round of both the boys’ and girls’ brackets in the GHSA state lacrosse tournament.
The 16-team field consists of teams in the A through AAAAA classifications.
The McIntosh boys beat St. Pius in the first round and will play at Greater Atlanta Christian in the quarterfinals. Starr’s Mill, after a win over Decatur, will host the Blessed Trinity-Pace winner in another quarterfinal.
The McIntosh girls beat Decatur and will play at Blessed Trinity. Starr’s Mill defeated Woodward and will host the Lovett-Wesleyan winner. Whitewater fell to St. Pius in the first round.
Quarterfinals are May 10-11. The semifinals are May 15 and the state championships will be decided May 19.
The 6A-7A brackets have 32 teams. In the first round, the East Coweta boys lost to Mill Creek, the East Coweta girls fell to Northview and the Northgate girls were defeated by North Gwinnett.
