Update – May 10: The man who died in the collision on Ga. Highway 85 South on May 8 was 26-year-old Fayetteville resident Georges Joseph, Jr. Injured in the accident and air-lifted to Atlanta Medical Center was 42-year-old Fayetteville resident William Betsill. The accident is under investigation.
Original story – May 8: A Tuesday afternoon head-on collision on Ga. Highway 85 South near Fayetteville claimed the life of one man and sent another man by helicopter to an Atlanta hospital.
Sheriff Barry Babb said the identification of the deceased man is being withheld until next-of-kin can be notified.

Babb said the accident occurred along Hwy. 85 South between Price Road and Royal Ridge Way when a Nissan Altima, driven by the deceased, was travelling northbound and crossed over the center line. The Nissan collided with a Ford F 250 pick-up truck, which had been travelling southbound.
The condition of the driver of the pick-up, a male, was not currently known. He was flown to an Atlanta hospital, said Babb.
No other details of the accident are currently available, Babb said, though investigators are reviewing the circumstances of the accident and are speaking with witnesses.
