Three local girls’ teams are through to the quarterfinals of the GHSA state soccer tournament.
In second-round action May 1, Starr’s Mill defeated Veterans 2-1, McIntosh downed Harris County 10-0, and Whitewater won 5-0 over Statesboro.
Quarterfinal matches are set for May 4: Starr’s Mill at Chamblee, Whitewater at Decatur and McIntosh against Carrollton (home team to be determined by coin flip).
Walton defeated East Coweta 3-0, Pope won 2-1 over Northgate and Blessed Trinity downed Sandy Creek 10-0 in other second-round matches.
The state semifinals are May 8 and the championships the week of May 11-12.
