Nine local teams will be back on the field next week for second-round action in the GHSA state soccer playoffs after first-round wins this week.

Girls matches in the round of 16 are May 1 and boys matches are May 2.

The East Coweta girls defeated Colquitt County 4-0 and host Walton.

The Northgate girls defeated Allatoona 0-0 (PK 4-3) and host Pope.

The McIntosh girls defeated Jones County 8-0 and host Harris County.

The Starr’s Mill girls defeated Locust Grove 3-0 and play at Veterans.

The Whitewater girls defeated Eagle’s Landing 2-0 and play at Statesboro.

The Fayette County girls lost 3-2 to Union Grove.

The Sandy Creek girls defeated Southeast Whitfield 3-0 and play the Blessed Trinity-Oconee County winner.

The East Coweta boys defeated Colquitt County 4-2 and play at Etowah.

The Northgate boys lost 4-0 to Dalton.

The Starr’s Mill boys defeated Woodland 3-0 and host Thomas County Central.

The McIntosh boys defeated Dutchtown 4-0 and play at Veterans.

The Whitewater boys defeated Eagle’s Landing 1-0 and face the South Effingham/Warner Robins winner.

The Sandy Creek boys were scheduled to play at Southeast Whitfield April 27 with the Blessed Trinity-Oconee County winner up next.

The Fayette County boys lost 1-0 to Union Grove.
