Jerry Blanchard Ray, Sr., 89, of Fayetteville passed away March 27, 2018.
Jerry was born on January 30, 1929 in McColl, South Carolina to Walter James and Claudia Ann Lee Ray. In 1985, he retired after 30 years of service with General Motors Lakewood Assembly Plant. He loved gardening and fishing and was a faithful member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruby Mae Ray; son, Jerry “Buddy” Ray, Jr.; six brothers; five sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, March 30, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Overton Chapel of Fayetteville First Baptist Church, with Rev. Glenn Stringham and Rev. Jack Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park, Jonesboro. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
