Sheriff Barry Babb while driving along Goza Road on Jan. 26 spotted a car being sought out of Pensacola, Fla. in connection with an attempted homicide.

Babb said he was driving along Goza Road near Ga. Highway 85 South on Friday morning when he spotted an abandoned car parked in plain sight on a woods road off Goza Road.

A check of the VIN number revealed that the car was being sought by the Escambia County Florida Sheriff’s Office in connection with an attempted homicide, Babb said.

Babb said the car, which included a bullet hole, will be processed locally for the Escambia sheriff.

School system spokesperson Melinda Berry-Dreisbach said parents were sent a letter noting that Whitewater High School “was on (cautionary only with no lockdown) code yellow briefly this morning due to an external law enforcement issue that had no relation to any happenings within the school.”
