One era has ended and a new one has begun with the opening of the MacDuff Parkway bridge at Senoia Road in Peachtree City’s west village. Motorist now have two ways, rather than only one, to enter and exit the growing west village area.

Though the bridge and roadway are now open and while the timeline is uncertain, the cones positioned in the left turn lanes at the MacDuff and Senoia Road intersection will be removed once the traffic signal is installed, said City Manager Jon Rorie.

The MacDuff Parkway bridge is the final link in the chain that will now provide motorists the ability to access the entire parkway that extends from Kedron Drive at Ga. Highway 74 North on the north side to Ga. Highway 54 West on the south side.

The roadway opening should take some of the traffic off the intersection at highways 54 and 74 since those living in the west village can now access MacDuff Parkway from Kedron Drive to the north.

Prior to the completion of the parkway extension and the opening of the bridge, the only way in or out of the west village area was at MacDuff Parkway and Hwy. 54.

The existing subdivisions in Wilksmoor Village, including one apartment complex, have a total of 1,454 units, while the three subdivisions approved for construction total 1,329 units. In total, Wilksmoor will eventually have 2,783 residential units.
