Helen Turner Williams, known to her family as “Peachie,” passed away in her sleep to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ early in the morning of November 19, 2017, at age 82.

Born and raised in Fayetteville, Ga., Helen was the youngest of eight children born to Arby and Jenellie Turner. In June of 1951, she married the love of her life, Edgar Joseph Williams. Helen and Ed were married for almost 66 years with only his death in March 2016 separating the two. Growing up during the Great Depression, many of life’s lessons were learned. The value of their Christian upbringing affected all things from being thankful for their blessings to having loving and sharing hearts. Helen’s career in life was being a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.

Her only time working outside the home was in the 1960’s. With Ed, they opened Helen and Ed’s Record Shop in College Park, then later in Fairburn. She loved Elvis, Hank and especially gospel music. Later in life, the opportunity to hear local talent at the Hollonville Opry House with friends and family brought her much joy. She enjoyed collecting owls and various types of glassware. She especially loved glass sitting hens because they reminded her of gathering eggs as a child. Through the years she kept her childhood doll, Jimmy, and her perfect glass child’s tea set.

Helen’s sweet, soft voice and love touched family and friends alike. As a mother, she so loved her sons. Always wanting and praying for the best for them. She accepted their wives with love as her own daughters. Her precious hands and heart were always ready when grandchildren and great-grandchildren arrived on frequent visits. Time spent with Grandmommy and Papa are highlights in their own lives. As family and friends will miss Helen’s sweet voice and soul, heaven is now blessed with her presence. Survivors include sons, David (Caroline) Williams, Timothy (Jean) Williams, and Philip (Donna) Williams; grandchildren, Eric, Evan, Eli, Emily, Jennifer, Kim, Kristin, Dalton, Micah, and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Haleigh, Easton, Conner, McKenna, Adley and Melina.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Chaplain Jim Weathers officiating. Burial followed at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Fayetteville. The family received friends on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
