Wallace “Wally” LeRoy Woodcock, Jr., 72, passed away after a long illness on October 20, 2017.

He was born on March 1, 1945 in Columbus, Ga. to the late Mary and Wallace LeRoy Woodcock, Sr. He graduated from Jonesboro High School in 1963.  Wally was a retired major with the Clayton County Police Department and served as a chaplain to the department. He was Minister of Senior Adults and Pastoral Care at New Hope Baptist in Fayetteville. He was also Past Grand Master of the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge.

Wally is survived by his wife, Virginia Dennis Woodcock; his daughters, Renee (Steve) Brannon and Christie Woodcock; his stepsons, David (Mandy) Creekmore and Russell (Jennifer) Creekmore; his grandchildren, Amelia Brannon, William Creekmore, Tommy Creekmore, Maggie Creekmore; and his brother, Mike Woodcock.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Jonesboro First Baptist Church Chapel, 147 Church Street, Jonesboro, Ga. 30236, with Pastor Hugh Kirby and Pastor Hinton Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214.  The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on October 25, 2017 at Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, Ga.
