Fayetteville plans nearly 13% property tax hike

If adopted, would be 4th year in a row city has raised property taxes

For the fourth consecutive year, Fayetteville homeowners will see a property tax hike.

City officials announced Friday the city would maintain the same millage rate of 3.874 mills, but the same rate means a tax increase of 12.91 percent for residents.

Because the city is not rolling back the rate to account for the uptick in the tax digest, the city will hold three public hearings on the increase: Aug. 17 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Aug. 31 at 6 p.m.

Officials said the tax increase would be $20.16 for a homeowner with a $150,000 home and $47.04 for a $350,000 home.
