Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church announces a change in its worship service schedule, effective Aug. 13. Contemporary worship now takes place at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday in the Fellowship Hall. sanctuary services remain at 6 p.m. Saturday, 8:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday.
With this change, the church offers two services at virtually the same time in different styles: the Fellowship Hall service with a contemporary worship band led by Sandra Bohlken, and a sanctuary service with hymns, choir, and organ. Everyone is invited to experience one or both styles.
August 13 marks other special events at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church. Sunday School for children and classes for adults all resume at 9:40 a.m.
Elementary and preschool-age children experience the Godly Play experiential approach, similar to Montessori educational principles.
Staff and volunteers lead classes for middle- and high-school students.
Adult classes include Bible Study and discussion, the Connect Class which introduces the Lutheran faith and COS to inquirers, and “Livin’ La Vida Luther.” This last group explores “why the Lutheran ‘founding father,’ Martin Luther, was such a rebel and how his impact reverberates throughout the world 500 years later,” according to Pastor Fritz Wiese, who will lead the class. This class repeats on Wednesdays from 6:15-7:30 p.m. Anyone is welcome to explore these classes whether they worship at COS or not.
Also on Aug. 13, Christ Our Shepherd will pray for all who teach at church and schools. Anyone who brings a backpack, briefcase, and even diaper bag will receive a token to remember the blessing they receive during worship.
The church is on the corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway in Peachtree City. For info, call 770-487-8717.
