A traffic flow measure near the Sams Club on Ga. Highway 34 in east Coweta County was approved June 6 by the Coweta County Commission.

The Fischer Road project will install a right-turn lane on the south side of the intersection of Fischer Road and Hwy. 34 for vehicles traveling east. On the north side of the highway, Fischer runs past Sam’s Club.

That is significant for the growing number of Fayette residents using Lower Fayetteville Road as an alternative when traveling to Newnan and southeast Coweta and for Coweta County residents traveling to Peachtree City or Fayette County.

Also approved by commissioners on June 6 was the installation of turn lanes on Ga. Highway 16 at the new Leroy Johnson Park near Senoia.

Named for former Commissioner Leroy Johnson, the park project comes as the new 49.4-acre, multi-use park is set to open later this year.

Commissioners unanimously approved the low bid for the projects totaling $433,307. Five bids were submitted, ranging from $433,307 to $594,611.

Both projects are funded through SPLOST (special purpose local option sales tax) revenues.
