Coweta County Senior Services, operated through the Coweta County Recreation Department, has announced it has opened a fourth weekly senior citizen program and invite all seniors living in the Sharpsburg area to join the fun each Monday.

This new program is held each Monday of the month from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the new Central Community Center, located at 85 Literary Lane in Newnan next to the Central Library and soccer fields.

Central joins similar programs already established in Welcome (Welcome Community Center on Tuesdays); in Senoia (Senoia Community Center on Wednesdays); and in Sargent (Panther Creek Community Center on Thursdays).

Various activities are planned for each week including board games, crafts and light refreshments are served, according to Patricia Hood who coordinates the programs at each of the centers. In addition, one meeting each month is set aside for a covered dish lunch with a program or speaker. Several day trips for those interested are also planned periodically throughout the year.

“We invite all seniors in the Sharpsburg area to join us for fun and camaraderie while making new friends,” said Hood. “There are a lot of new people moving to this area of eastern Coweta and this is a good opportunity for them to meet people.”
