Aside from the increase in recent tax bill notices, Peachtree City resident Eric Imker had an issue with with his home valuation in 2016 and took the matter to court where two-thirds of that increase was overturned.

Imker said his 2015 assessment was $305,200, while in 2016 that amount increased to $369,200, an increase of $64,000.

Imker said he appealed the valuation and went before the Fayette County Board of Equalization, attended a settlement conference and later took the issue to Superior Court.

Imker said he requested a jury trial. That trial occurred in March.

During his day in court, Imker said he addressed the various issues related to his increased valuation, rebutting the claims made in favor of increasing his home’s value.

At the end of the day, Imker said the jury returned, finding that his property should be valued at $325,000, a difference of $44,000 from the original assessment.

As for this year’s assessment, Imker said his home for 2017 carries a fair market of $407,800.
