Nedra Fay Murdock Boyce of Union City, Ga. passed away on April 13, 2017, at age 91.
She lived in Christian City (Hilltop Acres Retirement Homes) since 1999. Nedra was born on November 20, 1925 in Arma, Kan. and was the daughter of Arthur and Louise Murdock.
Nedra’s first job after high school was working as a radio dispatcher for the Kansas State Highway Patrol. She boarded with a family while working away from home and witnessed the family praying which led her to become a Christian to set her on a path of Christian service for life!
While being a pastor’s wife and living throughout Indiana, Nedra was a public school teacher 1963-1968 and a school librarian 1969-1983. Her lifetime hobbies included reading, crocheting, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, growing African Violets and orchids…and more reading! Nedra’s sharp memory, amazing sense of direction, and passion for Christian missions and the Hephzibah Children’s Home in Macon, Ga. will be solely missed. She loved participating in hand bell choirs, starting one at College Wesleyan Church in Marion, Ind. Nedra sponsored and donated a set of hand bells to a Wesleyan Church in Japan, traveling there to assist in the initial training.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Dr. Harold W. Boyce, and two sons, James Milton Boyce, of Jamestown, R.I., and Galen Boyce (wife Donna), of Fayetteville, Ga. Nedra was preceded in death by five brothers, Kenneth, Allen, Glenn, Dean, and Charles, and a sister Vivian Lea, and survived by one sister, Mary Pickerill, and brother, Joe Murdock. Nedra loved her grandchildren, Jami McLennan, Shane Boyce, Jennifer Tillery, and James Boyce II and prayed for them regularly. There are also four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at North Fayette United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Harrington officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
