The Georgia Athletic Directors Association has named Whitewater High School athletic director Mike Vena the 2017 Georgia Overall Athletic Director of the Year.

In addition to taking the overall award, Vena was also selected as the Georgia Region 3-AAAAA Athletic Director of the Year.

Vena’s selection by the GADA for both awards is in recognition of his efforts, dedication, leadership, and achievements in athletic administration. The award recognizes excellence in athletic administration as demonstrated by the out- standing work of Vena in making a profound difference for student athletes and coaches at Whitewater High School, and in the region and state.

Not only is Vena’s work recognized statewide, but also nationally. He is the winner of the 2017 Hall of Fame Service Award given by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. The service award is presented annually in recognition of an athletic director’s length of service, special accomplishments, and contributions to athletic administration at the local, state and national levels.
