Peachtree City Council to vote on stormwater issues

The March 2 meeting of the Peachtree City Council will come with only two agendas item up for a vote, both stormwater issues.

The council will address an emergency stormwater issue at a residence on Journeys End near Stevens Entry where a sinkhole developed near the home’s foundation.

The sinkhole appears to be associated with a structurally-degraded, 36-inch storm drainage pipe, city staff said.

Council members will also consider a resolution opposing Senate Bill 116 that prohibits cities and counties assessing stormwater utility fees on water-neutral properties.

A “water-neutral” property is defined as a property designed to achieve control of water runoff from a 25-year, 24-hour storm event consistent with the Ga. Stormwater Management Manual. If passed into law, proof of certification would be the responsibility of the property owner.
