I would like to clear up the confusion about the word “immigrant.”
It’s true we are all immigrants. However, our ancestors arrived by ship after a month or so of misery to Ellis island to be documented by name, age, place of birth, the date of arrival and name of ship. Sometimes they were sent back. Now that’s an immigrant.
Our government has federal laws on the books that are not enforced, i.e., hiring, sheltering, reporting wages and taxes.
Slipping across the border yesterday or 10 years ago with a phony green card or not returning to their country of origin after the visa expired does not make a citizen of the USA.
The folks coming into our country are looking for a better life, most are good people and are hard workers but they should have done it the right way. By entering under cover they are breaking the law.
