Local athletes were on the mat right up to the final day of the 2016-2017 wrestling season, culminating with the Georgia High School Association state tournament last weekend.
Top finishers in AAAAA included third place for Jacob Taylor of Fayette County (120) and Ian Darling of Starr’s Mill (170). Colin Kasler of Starr’s Mill (138) came in fourth, while fifth-place finishes went to Anthony Dawson of Fayette County (138), Greg Pasquarella of Whitewater (145) and Musa Ali of Whitewater (170). Vance Windon of Starr’s Mill (152) placed sixth.
In AAAA, Jake Lee of Sandy Creek (120) came in sixth.
In AAAAAA, Northgate got a fifth-place finish from Cameron Prevost (160) and a fourth-place spot from Dalton Elliot (220). Danny Nelson of East Coweta (120) came in sixth in AAAAAAA.
Collin Greer of Landmark (152) placed second in A while teammate Dylan Gabrielson (220) was fourth.
