Fayette County Animal Control was informed of an article referenced by the “No Kill Coalition” stating that all Fayette County pets would be euthanized by Dec. 20 at noon. This article has been the cause of alarm and confusion among some citizens, according to county officials.
The referenced article was printed in the Tuscaloosa News and it concerned an animal shelter located in Fayette County, Alabama. The Tuscaloosa News revised its article Dec. 20 stating that all “code red” dogs at the Fayette County Animal Shelter who were at risk of being euthanized after Christmas are safe.
“Fayette County’s Board of Commissioners, in conjunction with the Fayette County Animal Shelter, would like to emphasize that its shelter dogs and cats are safe and cared for this Christmas,” according to a statement. “Staff fully anticipates working with the animals this weekend while adopting their furry friends to new families.”
