Academic Bowl students dominate regional competition

Fayette County students blew away the competition this year at the regional Griffin RESA Academic Bowl, sweeping both the varsity and junior varsity divisions at the high school level and a near sweep at the middle school level.

At the high school varsity level, Starr’s Mill High took first place, Whitewater High came in second place, Fayette County High finished in third place, and McIntosh High took fourth place.

At the high school junior varsity level, Sandy Creek High finished in first place, McIntosh High took second place, Whitewater High came in third place, and Fayette County High took fourth place.

In the middle school division, J.C. Booth Middle came in first place, Rising Starr Middle took second place, and Bennett’s Mill Middle finished in third place.  

All of the winning high school teams will represent the region Feb. 11 at the State Academic Bowl in Flowery Branch.

The Griffin RESA Academic Bowl is a regional competition among middle and high schools in the Griffin RESA region that consists of school systems in Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding, and Upson counties.
