Tis the season: $29,000 in gift cards nabbed

An employee of the Target store off Ga. Highway 74 North in Peachtree City has been charged with the theft of more than $29,000 in gift cards.

Tamra Ann Butler, 19, of Union City, was charged with fiduciary theft by taking, according to police reports.

Police reports from Dec. 5 stated that officers arrived at Target at approximately 8 p.m. in response to a thief in custody call.

The investigation determined that Butler loaded approximately 29 gift cards with a value of approximately $29,486 for unknown persons without the equivalent funds being rendered to Target, police reports said.

Butler was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail.
