Tom B. Spratt Jr. passed away at his home on Saturday, November 26th, 2016.
He was born June 24, 1929 to Thomas Bruce Spratt and Ellen Robinson Spratt in Charlotte, N.C. He was the youngest of 4 children.
He graduated from Berryhill High School in 1947. Tom served part time in the NC Air National Guard from 1949 and received orders placing him on active duty for the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He worked for Eastern Air Lines for 40 years in Charlotte, N.C. and Miami, Fla. He retired from Eastern in 1988 as Director of Crew Resources. He was an airline consultant for several years and retired in 2001 as the vice president of Systems Operation Control at World Airways. He organized and was a Charter President of the Optimist Club International in Miramar, Fla. He served on the Broward County Florida State Parks Board. He was an Elder at both the Miramar Presbyterian Church in south Florida and First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City, Ga. He was a member of the Claude Fryer Golf Group in Peachtree City.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Bigham Spratt, 4 children, Tom (Daryl), Kathy Taber (Dan), Lee (Kim) and Pam Bolton (Charlie). He has 9 grandchildren: Cassandra Spratt, Michael Spratt, Lauren Taber, Kyle Taber, Alex Spratt, Sydney Spratt, Chandler Bolton, Conner Bolton and Caroline Bolton.
He was predeceased by his sisters Mary Louise Viehe and Joy McCall and survived by his sister Ellenora Barker.
Services will be held at Mowell Funeral Home on Robinson Road on Wednesday, November 30th at 4 p.m. with visitation from 3 to 4 p.m. Burial will be at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery Friday December 2nd at 1 p.m.
