Mrs. Mary Lynn Beadles Baker, of Havelock, N.C. passed away on November 20, 2016 at Craven County Medical Center in New Bern, North Carolina, the day following her 91st birthday.
Mary Beadles Baker was born November 19, 1925 in Fayetteville, Ga., the only child of Lynne Payne Beadles and Robert Bennett Beadles. She graduated from Young Harris High School, Young Harris, Ga. On December 6, 1945, Mary Beadles and John Neil Baker were married in Spalding County, Ga. Her husband, Neil Baker, was a career U.S. Marine. Their life took them from Atlanta to the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, Havelock, N.C., where she worked as a supply clerk and secretary.
Mary was an active member of Riverdale United Methodist Church, New Bern, N.C. She was in the Order of the Eastern Star of North Carolina, and the Havelock Garden Club.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Bennett Beadles and Lynne Payne Beadles and her husband Neil Baker.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Jeanie (Scott) Bradshaw, James F. (Susan) Cadle, Charles Fred (Debbie) Newberry, Jerry Neal (Paula) Cadle and 10 great nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Blvd., New Bern, N.C. with the Rusty Willis, pastor at Riverdale United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. prior to the funeral service.
Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 27 at the Fayetteville City Cemetery. Herb Flanders, Senior Pastor, Providence United Methodist Church is officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Riverdale United Methodist Church, 5195 US Highway 70 East, New Bern, N.C.
