AFM plans to help vets during holidays

Armed Forces Mission is planning its first annual “Holiday Help a Vet” events in Fayetteville, Peachtree City and Newnan during the upcoming holiday season.

Armed Forces Mission is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that strives to intervene with our veterans at risk for suicide and build a culture of community health to the 25,000 veterans in Fayette and Coweta counties.

On consecutive weekends from Nov. 26 through Dec. 11, Armed Forces Mission volunteers will set up base camp at specific locations, collecting non-perishable food items, hygiene items, and new toys for veterans and their families who are in need this holiday season.

Here are the dropoff locations and schedule:

Saturday, Nov. 26: Chick-fil-A Dwarf House, 221 Banks Road, Fayetteville, 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 27: Fayetteville Gazebo, intersection of Hwy. 85 and Hwy. 54, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 3: The Forum at Ashley Park, 370 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 4: The Forum at Ashley Park, 370 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 10: The Avenue, 239 City Circle, Peachtree City, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 11: to be announced.
